HAIR TREATMENT FAQS

What is a hair tint ?
A hair tint permanently lightens, darkens, and changes natural hair color and lasts 4 to 6 weeks.

What are highlights & lowlights?
Highlights and Lowlights give hair special effects by weaving, slicing, or ribboning multi-dimensional colors throughout the hair, lasts up to 4 months. This process takes approximately two hours to apply.

How long does a highlight last?
Even though highlights will grow out natural looking, they are still a permanent hair color that should be touched up every 3-6 months depending on the amount of highlights that you have in your hair.

What is the difference between section, custom and full highlights?
Section, custom, and full highlights serve different purposes for the hair. A section highlight is 12-15 foils and they are usually placed around the face and top of the head. Custom highlights are just like they sound, they are customized to a persons face, shape and hair style. They usually end at the top of the ears, and under the occipital bone in back. Full highlights are the entire head (including nape section).

I got a bad color at a different salon. Can you correct it?
We may be able to correct the color depending what products/chemicals were used and the condition of the hair. We always recommend to come in for a complimentary consultation, and at that time our color specialist will be able to determine the best course of action as well as pricing.

What is the cancellation policy?
If you must reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify us 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment to avoid being charged the full service fee. Cancellations of packages or private parties also require a 24 hour notice. A credit card number is required at the time you book your treatments.

FACIAL TREATMENT FAQS

What is the benefit of a professional facial?
When received regularly, facials can result in noticeable improvements to skin tone, texture, and appearance. A facial can restore the skin’s normal balance of oil and pH. Additional, temporary results may include: heightened skin softness and pliancy, increased circulation of blood to the face, and an overall healthy glow.

Will the facial make me break out?
You may experience a breakout after your facial as the skin is purging toxins. Not everyone experiences a breakout after a facial; it depends on how much congestion you have under your pores. As you start to receive regular facials, it is less likely that you will experience breakouts. Proper homecare will be recommended to enhance your professional treatments. You should drink plenty of water after your facial to help decrease the chances of a breakout.

How often should I receive a facial?
For optimum results, you should receive a facial every 4-6 weeks. Regular facials eliminate dead skin cell build up and help your skin to accept skincare products easier.

Should I perform extractions on myself?
No. You should allow a trained skincare specialist or dermatologist to extract any clogged pores. You can actually cause more damage by extracting pimples yourself. You don’t want to scar or push bacteria further down into the pores. Always allow a professional to perform extractions. Your esthetician can provide you with a spot treatment to help you leave unwanted blemishes alone.

Chemical Peels
Shear Bliss offers a variety of different peeling solutions for various skin conditions. Patients who have never heard of this treatment before will want to know, what are chemical peels? A chemical peel is a treatment in which an acid solution is used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. Typically administered as a facial peel, a chemical peel enhances and smoothes the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation.

HAIR REMOVAL FAQS

What is the Brazilian Bikini Wax?
Also known as the Playboy Wax, the Brazilian Bikini Wax removes all hair from your genitals, as painlessly as possible. You may choose to have everything taken off, or to leave a shape on the front, usually a strip or a triangle.

Is the procedure safe?
Yes, if you have an experienced esthetician. You should ask about their experience with different waxes and different types of hair. Above all you should make sure that they are not “Double Dipping”!

What is “Double Dipping”?
Double dipping is using the same wax stick during a service without changing it for a new one. This practice contaminates the wax pot and exposes you to bacteria and germs from others. Be sure that your esthetician cares about your safety.

Does the Brazilian Bikini Wax hurt? /Am I the right candidate?
Of course, ripping hair out of follicles is not going to be a comfortable experience. However, with an experienced esthetician the whole process can be short and a less painful one. It helps if your esthetician has prolonged experience with hair removal, especially with Brazilian Bikini Waxes. If you choose to wax on or near your monthly cycle, you may be a little more sensitive to pain. It is advised to take a couple Advil or Tylenol 30 minutes before your Brazilian visits if you do not have a very high pain tolerance (always consult with your doctor before taking medicine).

HYPNOSIS FAQS

What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis has been defined as the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind for the establishment of acceptable selective thinking. Hypnosis is a natural state of being and normal people go into and out of different states of hypnosis daily. In a nutshell, hypnosis is simply getting past the conscious mind and communicating directly with your powerful subconscious mind.

What if I can’t be hypnotized?
Any normally intelligent person can be hypnotized. This has more to do with the desire of the individual than the ability to be hypnotized. Many people think that because they are very strong-willed that they would make poor hypnosis subjects. This isn’t true, in fact, these people possess concentration skills that normally give them great success with hypnosis.

Do I have to believe in hypnosis for it to work?
No. The degree to which you can be hypnotized is not completely related to how much you believe in it. There have been some amazing results from hypnotic suggestion on people who have claimed that they were not hypnotized.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?
Some conditions require a referral, however the most common uses of hypnosis such as weight loss, smoking cessation, etc. do not. If you aren’t sure, ask your doctor or hypnotist.

Is Hypnosis dangerous?
No. Hypnosis is a normal state of mind which people experience every day. If you get engrossed in a book or movie, go into autopilot when driving, or listen very intensely to music, you are in a state of hypnosis. At any point in time during a hypnosis session, you have the ability to open your eyes, get up and walk out the door, even if you felt that your legs are very heavy or your eyes felt glued shut. A hypnotist is incapable of making you do anything that is embarrassing, shocking, unacceptable or irreversible.

What does it feel like to be in hypnosis?
Most people say that it feels very relaxing and comfortable, almost a dreamy state. Some people report sensations of floating, or of heaviness, but always very pleasant.
